Asian guardian lions, or commonly called Foo Dogs in the west, are usually placed at the entrance of an important building to guard the grounds and the people within. Guardian lions come in pairs, a male and a female to provide harmony and balance. They are an intimidating display of strength, power and wealth. They have a fierce appearance with an ability to guard off unwanted spirits.
